Life at Uform
We’re committed to becoming an employer of choice, both for the benefit of our people, and the organisation. Hear from our employees about life at Uform.
“The most enjoyable aspect of the role are the people I work with, as a department we all work extremely hard but know how to have a laugh together, we all support each other.”
A typical day would involve Key Account Manager duties in terms of customer support in addition to onboarding new members of staff into the department and reporting on a series of KPI’s.
In terms of the culture, teamwork and respect are words which spring to mind. Departments work well together and there’s a mutual respect for each other’s roles within the business.
I chose not to pursue the University route after school and felt somewhat limited in my career options. However, Uform invest in their people if they see potential and I’ve been afforded opportunities to learn and develop, from a Management Course to a Customer Service course, this has helped me progress further within the department and the role itself.
“A positive culture exists within Uform and the company’s aggressive growth plans makes it a great place to work.”
In my current role, I oversee the logistics function to include the packaging and despatching of product. A typical day involves liaising with Team Leaders to help prioritise tasks, project meetings focused on specific objectives such as improvement processes and dealing with our external logistic partners. It’s exciting and promising to be a part of a business which constantly strives to raise the bar. Significant growth brings challenges also and professionally speaking, this has given me the opportunity to show resilience and adapt to change and that has proved rewarding.
In my nine years with Uform I have been fortunate to experience several aspects of the business, from shop floor production to production planning and procurement, this has allowed me to progress into my current role. Uform has supported me in terms of Management training, Internal Mentoring, Health & Safety and Mental Health Training and this has collectively helped me progress personally and professionally.
“I’ve been part of the furniture now for 30 years and have experienced some significant changes down through the years, but the culture remains the same. We’re a happy team of people and I’m pleased to say I’ve made some lifelong friends along the way”.
I have been part of the Uform team now for over 30 years. I start my working day at 6am and this typically involves running thorough quality checks on customer orders which are due for despatch. This involves a series of checks to ensure products are clear of defects and are of the required standard before leaving Uform.
The thing I enjoy most about my role is the nature of the job itself. I take great pride in my work, and always like to do everything to the best of my ability, a trait which is important in quality! I’ve had experience of different areas of the warehouse and this job for me is by far the most rewarding in terms of job satisfaction. Knowing that the products I check ultimately end up in people’s homes, gives me pride in knowing that homeowners can enjoy the ranges that we supply.
“We have a very collaborative culture, we work together, share ideas and support one another to achieve our goals, all with the aim of ensuring customer relationships are nurtured”.
I initially joined the Uform team in July 2005 through an Invest NI Placement Programme and was offered a full time position the following year. In terms of my role, my days really vary depending on timelines in relation to the Product Introduction Cycle. This can range from excel analysis, assessing product designs, proofreading documents, working with fitters in our Design Centre and liaising with various departments and suppliers on new product related activities.
For me, the people in Uform are what makes it different, I have formed many friendships during my time here and there’s always someone to turn to if you need help in any aspect of your life. In terms of training and development, I undertook a managerial personal development programme which helped in understanding people and project management alongside dealing with change.
