Financial Controller
Uform is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Financial Controller to lead our finance function within a successful manufacturing and distribution business with annual turnover of approximately £76 million.
This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to influence business strategy, drive financial performance and support continued growth. Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you will ensure strong financial governance, deliver insightful reporting and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency across the business.

Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, board reports and financial performance analysis.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting across the business.
- Maintain robust balance sheet controls and oversee all reconciliations.
- Prepare annual statutory accounts and manage the external audit process.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls and governance frameworks.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Produce rolling forecasts, budgets and cash flow projections.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Support long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making.
Manufacturing & Operational Finance
- Oversee product costing and inventory valuation processes.
- Analyse manufacturing variances, labour efficiencies and production performance.
- Support inventory management and working capital optimisation initiatives.
- Partner with operational teams to improve productivity, reduce waste and enhance margins.
- Provide financial analysis to support capital investment and continuous improvement projects.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury activities.
- Optimise debtor, creditor and inventory performance.
- Monitor banking facilities and covenant compliance.
- Drive improvements in working capital management.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the finance team.
- Set clear objectives and performance standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with department managers across the business.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes through automation and best practice.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and management dashboards.
- Support digital transformation and system enhancement projects across the finance function.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting expertise.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Excellent understanding of inventory management, costing and operational finance.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience using Power BI and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within a multi-site manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong manufacturing and/or distribution sector background.
- ERP implementation or finance systems improvement experience.
- Experience supporting private equity-backed or family-owned businesses.
